Generations in the Jeugdtour

The Jeugdtour often sees generations of cyclists; first their mums and dads and now the young ones. We talked to a very proud daddy Larsen who was in the Jeugdtour with son Michael in 1993/1994 and is now back with son Ruben who is ten years old. "It's still the same, still wet," father Claus-Bo laughs after we barely survived the rain and thunderstorms the night before.
I was here with Michael in 1993 and 1994. He is now 32 and still rides. This event is just so great, very well organized. They have everything under control, except the weather!
Ruben started riding last year. His specialty is the sprint but his time trial went quite well too. "I am fan of Cancellara and Greipel," Ruben says. No Danish riders? "No, only my brother Michael. He is better than me but I train hard to become just as good as him. We train on Tuesday and Thursday and in the weekends we race."
Michael won the yellow jersey once and has won several stages. Ruben is not quite there yet. "He held on to the peloton in the classic which is really good for him," Claus-Bo says beaming with pride. "It's just so much fun being back in Assen. I am sure we'll be here again next year."
