Exciting Omloop for U17

After three stages and a prologue, today it was time for the Omloop. In the U17 category the big question was who would stop Nino Honigh from winning another stage this week after winning two already. It was Nino starting in yellow, Jelle Wolsink in green and Australian Robert Power in white because he was second in that classification after Nino.
There were five laps of nine kilometers to be done. Straight from the start the pace was up. The peloton was elongated and several crashes occurred. Brendon Meney and Olaf Remmerswaal were amongst the riders down. In the second lap the pace went up even more and the bunch split.
The first attack in the stage was from Jasper Bugter. He was joined by Jacob Ragan and Bram van Berkesteijn but the trio didn't get more than 20 seconds. It was leader Nino Honigh who personally got them back. At the end of this lap five guys escaped: Jorrit Lind, Patrick van der Duin, Rick Goeree, Kevin Kooyman and Alexander Atzen Sacht.
At the start of the final lap the difference between this group and the bunch was only 12 seconds but because the group worked well together, it soon became 45 seconds. Jacob Ragan went in pursuit and so did Emil Wang. They couldn't reach the five leaders. They remained at 35 seconds and 10 seconds. The bunch was even over a minute behind.
The winner would be in the group of five. Kevin Kooyman was the fastest in the final sprint. Patrick van der Duin and Rick Goeree completed the podium.
Nino Honigh crashed in the final turn but got the same finishing time as the peloton and therefore keeps his yellow jersey. He also holds the white and Jelle Wolsink is wearing green.
